A Web Site is useless if the Internet users do not visit it. But how
do they know the address of a Web Site? As a matter of fact, initially
they don't! They try to find relevant sites pertaining to their interest
through Search Engines and Directories, which are specialized Web
Sites on the Internet which function as Internet "Yellow
Pages".
It is important to submit information about your site to these Search
Engines after hosting the site, so that your Web Site is added to their
database, and is listed in the appropriate category which can be
retrieved by an Internet user.
The process of adding information about a Web Site to these Search
Engines and Directories is called Submission. There are about 25
major Engines, and more than 1000 minor ones.
